I would have given this a five, however the artwork around both dials have disappeared. I miss the artwork — especially considering the it contained important information, such as degree and timing. An errant spray of glass cleaner is likely the culprit in revealing this particular design flaw. Luckily, due to frequent daily use, this didn’t happen until I had already committed to memory the positions of both knobs. I’m mindful, however, that other people may lead busier lives and mightn’t have time for such things.

Sadly, I do feel somewhat cheated because, unlike another reviewer who wrote that this toaster oven “leaves a small footprint”, mine does not leave any footprint at all. Anywhere! I study tracks and scat in the wilderness so this is why I am especially disheartened by the lack of being able to photograph the footprints of my toaster oven in a domestic setting.

That tragedy aside, I love this toaster. I love how easy it is to clean. I love how it browns my toast, and how cool it is to watch it broil, turning pale shreds of cheese into melty pools of bubbly, golden perfection. I love how it playfully releases the scents of baked goods into the air for all to enjoy. I love how the glass window reflects my efforts whilst I await the final ding … (of the timer).

The only regret I have is born of my own desire to keep a spotless kitchen. Which takes us back to how the dial artwork disappeared into the ether. Alas, my lovely toaster oven is now perhaps as flawed as I.

I love this little toaster oven! Bought it to replace one I had for 9 years, which I used exclusively for cooking Texas Toast and reheating pizza. This one is smaller, which is a plus as it takes up less space on the counter, but it still has enough room for a couple slices of pizza. The controls are simple – one for time, one for temperature. The best part is the door. What a great idea to have it open over the top! It’s easy to reach in to get your food (as the name implies) and if I have something on the counter in front of the toaster, I don’t have to move it to get food in and out. The price is great too!
