Cabbage may be cooked either in plenty of boiling salted water, or placed into a saucepan with a minimum amount of water — the conservative method is outlined below. The former method is fast losing flavor as the vegetable becomes watery and rather tasteless and loses much of its vitamins during cooking.
Makes: 10 portions. Cooking time: 8-12 minutes.
Ingredients:
— 2 kg prepared cabbage
— 20 grams salt
— ¾ liters boiling water
Method:
(1) Place the prepared cabbage into the boiling salted water, cover with a lid and boil steadily until cooked.
(2) Drain the cabbage in a colander.
(3) Serve in a vegetable dish neatly arranged.
